Super Secret Sausage Gravy
Ingredients:
1 lb ground sausage
4 slices thick-cut bacon
1 tsp powdered beef stock
3 tbsp all-purpose flour
1 tsp salt
2 tsp ground black pepper
2 cup milk
1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (optional)
1/4 tsp powdered garlic (optional)
Directions:
- In a large skillet, fry off the bacon and reserve the grease to a bowl
- Cook sausage with a small amount of chicken stock or water to help break down the fat and allow sausage to cook into little pieces
- Add bacon grease back to pan with sausage
- Stir in flour, salt, pepper, and powdered beef broth to make your roux
- Be sure to cook it at least 2 minutes stirring constantly, to get the ‘raw flour’ taste out
- Gradually stir in milk.
- Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until mixture is thickened.
- Serve over biscuits
Serves 4 - 6
