Hearty French Onion Soup
What You Need
2 Tbsp. Kraft Zesty Italian Dressing3 large onions, sliced, separated into rings2 cans (10 fl oz) beef broth2 soup cans water1 Tbsp. chopped fresh thyme1 cup seasoned croutons1 cup Kraft 4 Cheese Italiano Shredded Cheese
Make It
- Heat dressing in large saucepan on medium heat. Add onions; cook 10 min. or until golden brown, stirring frequently.
- Stir in broth, water and thyme. Bring to boil; simmer on medium-low heat 5 min.
- Heat broiler. Ladle soup into 8 ovenproof bowls; top with croutons and cheese. Broil, 3 to 4 inches from heat, 2 to 3 min. or until cheese is melted.
Tips:
How to Shed No Tears
- To avoid crying while peeling or slicing onions, just chill them in the freezer for 10 to 15 min. before slicing. Or, peel the onions under cold running water.
Creative Leftovers
- Using seasoned croutons takes the fuss out of toasting bread slices.
Special Extra
- When entertaining, add 1/4 cup Port or brandy to the soup with the broth.
