Bread Pudding a Newfoundland Favourite

Ingredients:

 
2 cups milk
1/4 cup butter
1/2 cup brown sugar
3 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup raisins
3 cups of dry bread 

Sauce for Bread Pudding:

1/2 cup butter
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup light brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup carnation milk

Directions:

 
Pre-heat oven to 350 F, grease an 8x8 square pan.

Heat the the milk and butter together in a saucepan gently just enough to melt the butter
In a big bowl put the bread,raisins,.mix the eggs and sugar together and add to the milk and butter.

Stir and pour over the bread and raisins .put into the square pan and bake for 45 minutes
I always made bread pudding ,but after i tasted this recipe its the only one i use now
I don,t bother having the sauce on bread pudding i like it just like this but some people like it with sauce.

Sauce for Bread Pudding:

 Heat butter and brown sugar ,bring to a boil,remove from heat and whisk in salt.,vanilla and carnation. Can be made ahead of time and heat in microwave when needed.
